The cast of “The Mandalorian” is preparing for a new journey. The third season of the well-known “Star Wars” television series has a premiere date of some time in 2023, according to the first trailer released by Disney+.

Before Lucasfilm unveiled a teaser trailer, actor Katee Sackhoff said that the forthcoming season is “wild” during D23.

Season 3 picks up after the events of “The Book of Boba Fett,” a miniseries from 2021 that had Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), the series’ main character and also referred to as the Mandalorian or “Mando,” in a guest role. At the end of the miniseries, Mando’s young apprentice Grogu made the decision to come back to him after having previously left his side to train with the Jedi Master Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). After leaving Tatooine, Mando set out to find “the living waters” beneath the planet Mandore in an effort to reclaim his honor and reclaim his Mandalorian identity. The main challenge the hero will encounter on his journey will be other people, with the teaser hinting at a conflict between Djarin and other stoic, armored warriors.

For Season 3, along with Pascal, it has been revealed that Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, and Katee Sackhoff will return in their prior “Mandalorian” roles. Weathers portrays Greef Karga, the head of the guild of bounty hunters, and Esposito plays Moff Gideon, the show’s main antagonist who is attempting to kidnap Grogu from Mando. Bo-Katan Kryze, a female Mandalorian looking to take the Darksaber from Mando, is played by Katee Sackhoff, who played the character in Season 2.

Additionally, this season’s appearance by Christopher Lloyd has been confirmed. Amy Sedaris, Omid Abtahi, Bill Burr, Timothy Olyphant, Titus Welliver, and Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen are just a few of the show’s notable former cast members. Rosario Dawson made her debut as the beloved character Ahsoka Tano in season two of “The Mandalorian,” which will be followed by a self-titled spinoff series that will debut the following year.

Favreau is the author of “The Mandalorian” and will write the majority of the season. Together with Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Rick Famuyiwa, he and Filoni executive produce the show, which is made by Lucasfilm. It has been revealed that Weathers will helm a third-season episode. Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow, Taika Waititi, Peyton Reed, and Robert Rodriguez are examples of previous directors. The season’s filming reportedly began in October of last year and ended in March.
