Manhunt launched for gunmen after five shot and killed in Joe Slovo

 

Milnerton detectives have launched a manhunt for six suspects who shot and killed five people in Joe Slovo, Milnerton on Thursday evening 8 October.

JOE SLOVO: SIX GUNMEN APPEAR AT TWO HOUSES

According to police, there were two scenes. First, it is alleged that  the six suspects arrived at a house in Sekowa Street, Joe Slovo after 22:00 looking for an individual identified only by name.

One suspect — a woman — was shot in the head and was killed. Her age is yet to be determined. Another woman who was with the deceased was hit in the head and sustained an injury.

“A few minutes later, the six suspects arrived at another house in Dada Street where they shot and killed three men and a woman. The ages of the victims are between 28 and 36,” said Brigadier Novela Potelwa. 

The detectives are hard at work in an effort to apprehend the suspects as well as determine the motive for the murders.

SIX KILLED IN KHAYELITSHA SHOOTING 

On Wednesday 30 September, just over a week ago, a similar scene to the Joe Slovo shootings played out in Khayelitsha, Cape Town. According to police, six people were killed and four were injured after unknown gunmen stormed a house in Site C Khayelitsha in the late afternoon.

Potelwa said Khayelitsha police were investigating murder and attempted murder cases after six men were shot and killed in Site C, Khayelitsha on Wednesday afternoon.

“Four other victims were injured during the shooting incident,” she added.

Potelwa said that the shootout occurred both inside and outside of the home, and said that they have yet to establish a motive for the violent crime.

“On arrival, [police] were informed that yet-to-be-identified gunmen fired several inside and outside the premises. Six victims died on the scene, while four were wounded and taken to hospital for treatment,” she said.

The injured were between the ages of 23 and 27-years-old.

Cape Town cop Charl Kinnear was also shot and killed outside his Bishop Lavis home on Friday 18 September. An ex-rugby player by the name of Zane Killian has since been accused of the fatal murder.
