Johannesburg – The Legend 50 and GR-Sport special edition Hilux bakkies have just been introduced in South Africa by Toyota.
The Ford Ranger Raptor isn’t a direct competitor, but the GR-Sport appears to be aiming for it as the most audacious of the two. The GR-Sport is only available in 2.8 4×4 form for R707 400, while the Legend 50 is available in 13 variants, ranging in price from R472 000 to R712 100. (See full price list below article).

Hilux GR-Sport
An aggressive body makeover and upgraded suspension set the GR-Sport different from the rest of Toyota’s Gazoo Racing lineup.
All-black honeycomb grille with silver Toyota block writing; black fog lights with red frame; GR-branded running boards; 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels; and Gazoo racing decals.
Although the GR-Sport is R80 000 less expensive than the Ford Ranger Raptor, which has a Fox racing suspension system and a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine that delivers 130kW and 450Nm, it is not a direct contender because it lacks the more powerful engine. There is a Drive Mode Select system that includes a Dakar Mode that enhances throttle response.
Technically speaking, the GR division has upgraded all four corners of the GR-S with stronger shock absorbers and stiffer front springs, making it more stable. Improved agility without sacrificing ride quality is Toyota’s boast.
the red and glossy black instrument cluster stand out from the rest of the interior, which is decorated with GR logos on the head restraints and the start button, as well as floor mats. A new 20.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is also included in this variant.
Hilux Legend 50
To honor the 50th anniversary of the Hilux bakkie in South Africa, Toyota has released a special edition model.A wide range of derivatives are available, including Single Cab, XTra Car, and Double Cab body styles, 4×2 and 4×4, and two engines, while the Raider models on which they are based are being phased out for the time being.
Buyers may pick between the Toyota’s 174kW/376Nm 4-liter V6 petrol engine and the previously stated 130kW/420Nm 2.8-liter turbodiesel, which is available in both automatic and manual configurations.
The grille, side steps, style bar, and unique black and silver two-tone wheels of the Legend 50 models, as well as the Legend 50 badging throughout the vehicle, all serve as distinguishing features.
Along with a 20.3-inch infotainment system with GPS, DVD player, and reversing camera, the special edition also comes equipped with the emblems mentioned above. To address an ergonomic issue with the previous infotainment system, it now has a traditional volume button.
