The ECTC Scholarship Application for the academic year 2022/2023 has commenced; interested applicants should carefully review the application rules listed below before proceeding.

Every academic year, Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is able to provide a large number of scholarships. Students pursuing any degree and/or major are eligible to apply for some of these scholarships, while others have been defined by the donors as being offered to students enrolled in specific college degree programs.

Application for the ECTC Scholarship for the academic year 2022-2023

Kelley O’Rourke Abell Nursing Scholarship Fund

WITH A 3.0 cumulative GPA, you will get a $1000 award, with $500 being paid for the fall semester and $500 being paid for the spring semester.

The applicant must have been admitted to the Associate Degree Nursing Program; preference will be given to non-traditional students (adult learners) who have dependent children.

Abound Credit Union Purple Heart Scholarship

AWARD: $2,000 IN MONEY

ELIGIBILITY: Students must have unmet financial aid needs and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. Students pursuing a credential in any field, whether they are current or first-year students, may apply. In the event that all other qualifications are equal, preference will be given to a Purple Heart recipient, their spouse or direct descendent of a Purple Heart recipient, any child who has a servicemember as the legal guardian, and the spouse or descendent of a service member who was killed in action or who died as a result of wounds sustained while serving in the military. After the first semester, recipients must continue to make good academic progress in order to be eligible for the scholarship.

The Marc Evan Beeler Memorial Journalism Award is given to a journalist who has made significant contributions to the field of journalism.

AWARD: The amount varies.

ELIGIBILITY: Students must be enrolled as full-time second-year students, reside in Hardin County, have graduated from a hardin county high school with high academic achievement, high moral principles, and a sense of community responsibility, and be pursuing an Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in journalism, broadcasting, or communications in order to be eligible. Students that display a strong interest in journalism will be given first consideration.

Bobby Bow Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: $1000 IN CASH

REQUIREMENTS: Must be accepted into a technical program, with preference given to students preparing for careers in the building trades; new or returning students enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis; preference given to students with unmet financial needs and/or residents of Rineyville; and must be a Rineyville resident.

Herman and Emma Brackett Endowed Scholarship

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: The student must demonstrate financial need and be on track to complete a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering to be considered for admission. Preference should be given to a female student, assuming that all other qualities are equivalent.

 

L.F. & Ruth S. Brewer Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: The amount varies.

ELIGIBILITY: Students must meet minimal academic requirements.

Alma Crowder Cooper Memorial Scholarship Fund

AWARD: The amount varies.

Qualifications: Must have completed the equivalent of one year and intend to return for a second year; major in English, English Education or a related field; intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree in that field; and demonstrate superior academic achievement, superior integrity, and high moral principles. Qualifications: When applicants are equal in all other categories, financial need is taken into consideration.

Scholarship for Culinary Arts at ECTC

AWARD: A $500 cash prize

ELIGIBILITY: Must be planning to pursue a certificate or degree in culinary arts, and may be a current or first-time ECTC student to be considered for this opportunity. Preference will be given to students who have unmet financial obligations.

Walker C. Cunningham Endowed Scholarship

Up to $1000 in award money for freshmen, and up to $1500 in award money for second-year students

ELIGIBILITY: Academic achievement, college activities, community activity, family obligations, and financial need are all taken into consideration when determining eligibility.

AWARD: A $500 cash prize

A candidate’s eligibility is determined by his or her ability to achieve basic academic levels, be a resident of Hardin County, and display leadership aptitude.

Fulfilling the Promise Endowed Scholars’ Fund

AWARD: The amount varies.

ELIGIBILITY: Must be enrolled as a full-time student and maintain minimal academic levels to be eligible. Academic potential is taken into consideration during the selection process.

Elizabethtown, Hardin and LaRue County Retired Teachers Association Transfer Scholarship

AWARD: a monetary award of $750

Qualifications include being a graduate of Central Hardin High School, Elizabethtown High School, John Hardin High School, LaRue County High School, North Hardin High School, and attending at least one EHLRTA meeting.

Elizabethtown Industrial Foundation Training Consortium (EIFTC) Scholarship

AWARD: $3000 IN MONEY

Must achieve minimal academic qualifications, be 26 years old or younger, and be the dependant of a parent or legal guardian who is employed by an EHCIF Training Consortium member company in order to be considered for this position (AGC Automotive, Akebono, Altec Industries, The Cecilian Bank, City of Elizabethtown, Dow Chemical, Flex Films, Gates Corporation, Metalsa, Mouser Cabinetry, Orbis Corporation, Plastikon, and Soudal). Before the award may be given, the employee must complete an employer verification form. Verification forms are available through each EIFTC member’s Human Resources Department, or you can request a copy by contacting Megan Stith at megan.stith@kctcs.edu.

Elizabethtown Rotary Club/Jim Owen Scholarship

Awards are given in two categories: $500 for a technical area and $1,000 for an academic discipline.

Students who have graduated from Elizabethtown High School, Central Hardin High School, or John Hardin high school and who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance as well as being a full-time student and maintaining satisfactory academic progress (2.0 cumulative GPA) will be eligible for a scholarship after the first semester of their freshman year.

Engineering & Electronic Technology Department Scholarship

AWARD: A $500 cash prize

PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTS (ADULT-LEARNERS) who exhibit satisfactory academic progress after the first semester in order to be eligible for the award.

Equity Through Education Scholarship

AWARD: The amount varies.

ELIGIBILITY: You must be a credential-seeking student with a minimum 2.0 grade point average to be considered. Applicants may be existing ECTC students or newcomers to the institution. Despite the fact that all qualifications are equal, students with unmet financial needs from a variety of backgrounds, including racial and ethnic origins, are given preference. The following essay is required: What steps do you intend to take in order to improve diversity, inclusion, and equity in your community as a result of your chosen profession? What is the significance of equity and inclusion?

Fourth District Retired Teachers Association Scholarship

AWARD: A $500 cash prize

The recipient must be a resident of Kentucky’s Fourth District (Breckinridge, Elizabethtown/Hardin/LaRue, Grayson, Green, Hart, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Taylor, and Washington County); must have graduated from a high school in the Fourth District area; and must be pursuing a degree in the field of teacher education or related field.

Pamela Cohns Fox Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: $1000 IN CASH

ELIGIBILITY: You must be a credential-seeking student with a minimum 2.0 grade point average to be considered. Applicants may be existing ECTC students or newcomers to the institution. Preference will be given to students who have unmet financial obligations.

Gene Haas Foundation Scholarship

AWARD: The amount varies.

You must be a credential-seeking student in Computer Manufacturing and Machining to be eligible to participate. Applicants may be existing ECTC students or newcomers to the institution. Preference will be given to students who have unmet financial obligations.

Hardin LaRue Medical Society Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund

AWARD: $1000 IN CASH

Qualifications: The recipient must be a current student in the Associate Degree Nursing Program, exhibit the ability to succeed as a Registered Nurse, maintain good academic standing with the college, and demonstrate financial need.

Hudson First Generation Scholarship

AWARD: The amount varies.

Students must be at least a part-time student with a minimum 2.0 grade point average who intend to pursue a certificate or degree and who are either current ECTC students or first-time students to be eligible. Applicants who have unmet financial demands as well as those whose parents did not complete their college education are given priority consideration for admission. The following essay is required: The importance of being a first-generation college student has been discussed previously.

Charles and Zelma Conner Inge Endowed Scholarship

AWARD: The amount varies.

ELIGIBILITY: Students must meet minimal academic requirements.

Justice Action Network Criminal Justice Reform Scholarship

AWARD: $1000 IN CASH

Students must be in their sophomore year, expecting to transfer to University of Kentucky, and enrolled in a pre-law curriculum to be considered for this scholarship opportunity. Preference is given to students enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program that has the potential to lead to a career in law.

Justice Action Network Criminal Justice Reform Scholarship

AWARD: $5000 IN CASH

Students who are fresh to or returning to school and who desire to pursue a career in criminal justice as well as those who have had prior engagement with the justice system are both eligible. In the event that all other credentials are equivalent, preference shall be given to women and minorities who have been harmed by the criminal justice system, regardless of their other qualifications. The following essay is required: When you were younger, how did the criminal justice system affect you, and why do you want to pursue a career in the criminal justice field?

KCTCS Commonwealth Scholarship

AWARD: The amount varies.

A Kentucky resident who is a current year high school graduate who ranks in the top quartile of their high school graduating class, or a prior year high school graduate who ranks in the top quartile of their high school graduating class, is eligible to enter the contest. Applicants must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours to be eligible for this one-time scholarship, which can be used to cover tuition, books, and other educational expenses. The scholarship is non-renewable.

KCTCS Kentucky Colonels Better Life Scholarship

AWARD: $2500 IN TOTAL

BECOMING ELIGIBLE: This program offers four semesters of financial aid to students who want to complete a two-year degree and go to work or transfer to a four-year institution. Recipients should be first-year students who have shown adequate academic progress during the first semester in order to be eligible for the award the following semester. A Kentucky resident who is pursuing an associate degree at ECTC full-time and who is a single working parent with one or more children under the age of 12 must meet the following requirements: demonstrate an enthusiasm for learning and the potential for academic success; and demonstrate financial need that has not been met by other sources.

KCTCS Presidential Scholarship

AWARD: The amount varies.

A Kentucky resident who is enrolled in at least 6 credit hours is required to be eligible. Tuition, books, and other associated educational expenses are eligible for reimbursement with the prize.

KCTCS John T. Smith Scholarship

AWARD: The amount varies.

Qualifications: Must be an African American student enrolled in a higher education program in Kentucky; must exhibit potential for achievement in postsecondary education. Students enrolled in at least 6 credit hours are eligible for a one-time scholarship that is not renewable.

KCTCS Toyota Manufacturing Kentucky Scholarship

AWARD: $2500 IN TOTAL

ELIGIBILITY: Must be enrolled in an automotive-related program with a minimum 3.0 grade point average and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to a Latino student despite the fact that all other qualifications are equivalent.

Kentucky Retired Teachers Association/N.O. Kimbler Memorial Scholarship

THE AWARD IS $1500.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must meet the minimal College requirements and must be enrolled in a teacher education program in order to be considered.

Martha Ailene Knudson Memorial Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund

AWARD: A $500 cash prize

A student must be enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing Program, maintain good academic standing, and demonstrate financial need in order to be eligible.

LG&E/KY Innovation Scholarship

AMOUNT OF AWARD: $1,750

BE ELIGIBLE: Have a minimum 2.5 grade point average; be a high school senior in the ECTC service area; maintain a good attendance record; be enrolled in programs eligible for the craft-worker internship; be interested in the energy field; be a full-time student beginning in the fall semester; and intend to work for LG&E KU if selected for the internship program for any of these programs. ELIGIBILITY Engineering and Electronics Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Automotive Diesel, and Industrial Electricity are some of the specializations available. An essay on changes in the energy market, particularly in the Commonwealth, is required (2 pages, double spaced) for credit.

Dr. George and Hazel Luster Endowed Scholarship

AWARD: The amount varies.

ELIGIBILITY: You must be a resident of Kentucky and meet certain academic qualifications to be considered.

Jerry Murrell Scholarship

AWARD: A $500 cash prize

Candidates must have an unmet financial need, with preference given to those who have completed ECTC’s CODE program. There is no requirement for a specific field of study. Applicants may be existing ECTC students or newcomers to the institution.

Pay it Forward Scholarship

AWARD: A $500 cash prize

Students who have successfully completed one year of study at ECTC and who have demonstrated financial need as well as those who are pursuing a certification are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Both full-time and part-time students are eligible to apply.

Bill Pitcock Memorial Endowed Scholarship

AWARD: $2000; $1000 for the fall semester and $1000 for the spring semester if the recipient achieves at least a 3.0 GPA; if the recipient does not, the award will be forfeited.

BEING ELIGIBLE REQUIRES: The student must be seeking a certification in a technical program and submit two letters of recommendation (at least one from a teacher) that speak to the student’s likelihood of success. Students who qualify for need-based financial assistance must meet certain requirements.

Rineyville Optimist Club Scholarship

AWARD: $1000 IN CASH

To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled in a technical program. Applicants who have unmet financial needs, students training for a career in the building trades, and/or residents of Rineyville will be given first consideration for financial aid.

Dr. Robert and Rita Robbins Excellence in Allied Health Education endowed Scholarship

AWARD: The amount varies.

MANDATORY: Students must have a least 3.0 GPA and intend to pursue a certificate or degree in an Allied Health program to be considered for this position. Students with unmet financial needs are given priority consideration. Applicants may be existing ECTC students or newcomers to the institution.

Tanya “The Game Changer” Seabrooks Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: $2,000 IN MONEY

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be current or first-time ECTC students to be considered for this award. To be considered, applicants must have a strong academic record as well as community service or involvement in social justice advocacy activities. Priority will be given to students who are female, seeking to establish their own business, involved in social justice campaigning, or who are from Radcliffe, assuming that all other qualities are equal. The following essay is required: If you are awarded this scholarship, what will you do to make a difference in your community? What strategies will you employ to generate possibilities for justice and equity?

Timothy M. Sessoms Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: A $1,000 CHECK

Qualifications include a minimum 2.5 GPA, unmet financial need, and a desire to pursue a career in the health or fitness industry. If all other qualities are comparable, preference will be given to a student who exhibits membership in a religious group or organization. Applicants may be full-time or part-time students, and they may be existing or first-time ECTC students, depending on their situation. The following essay is required: What impact has your faith had on your day-to-day activities? Health and fitness are essential to you for a variety of reasons.

Dr. Michael F. Stephens Scholarship

The award is $400.

Students must be enrolled full-time, complete the minimal academic requirements, and demonstrate financial need in order to be eligible.

 

Vinson and Mary M. Thomas Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: The amount varies.

Qualifications: You must have been accepted into either the Associate Degree Nursing Program or the Bachelor of Business Administration Program. The awards are rotated between the two categories on an annual basis, with the Business category being the focus in 2022-2023. You must be a parent and show that you have financial necessity. Preference will be given to students who are 25 years old or older and who are residents of Grayson County.

Tim D. Turner Family Scholarship

AWARD: A $500 cash prize

ELIGIBILITY: Students must have a 3.0 grade point average and be enrolled as full-time students seeking a welding certificate. After the first semester, the scholarship recipient must continue to make good academic progress in order to be eligible for the grant.

Walking with Purpose Scholarship

AWARD: A $500 cash prize

 

Qualifications include a least 3.0 grade point average and the presence of unmet financial requirements. Priority will be given to a minority female student who has demonstrated involvement in a religion community, after all other qualifications have been taken into consideration. Applicants may be existing ECTC students or newcomers to the institution. The following essay is required: As a minority female, you have most likely faced discrimination and struggle on your path to academic achievement. What steps did you take to overcome these obstacles, and what plans do you have for assisting the future generation of minority female leaders

Hope Wheeler Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: A $500 cash prize

A senior at Elizabethtown High School who intends to attend full-time at ECTC or a current ECTC student who aims to major in teaching and who can demonstrate volunteerism, service-learning, or service to others are required to be eligible. It is necessary to write an essay explaining why the applicant wishes to major in education, what educational field the applicant intends to specialize in, why providing a strong educational foundation to children is important, why the applicant wishes to attend ECTC, and how the scholarship will benefit the applicant.

Wright Implement Agriculture Scholarship

AWARD: A $500 cash prize

ELIGIBILITY: You must be a degree-seeking student majoring in agriculture to be considered. Preference will be given to students who have unmet financial obligations. Applicants may be existing ECTC students or newcomers to the institution.

Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship

AWARD: The amount varies.

Students must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States, residents of Kentucky, and high school graduates (or enrolled in a GED + program) in order to be eligible for financial aid. Have not yet earned an associate’s or higher degree; are enrolled, or have been accepted for enrollment, at an eligible post-secondary institution in an approved program of study leading to an industry-recognized certificate or diploma or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a high-demand workforce sector; or have not yet earned an associate’s or higher degree.
