Reguera was born in the Mexican state of Veracruz. ‘Miss Veracruz,’ as her mother was referred as, went on to become a journalist and television celebrity in her own right. Reguera began studying classical ballet at the Instituto Veracruzano de la Cultura, and then went on to study performance arts at the same institution.
She moved out from Veracruz to study at Televisa’s CEA, and later went on to study with Juan Carlos Corazza in Spain, and then with Aaron Spicer, Lisa Robertson, and Joan Scheckel in Los Angeles, where she currently resides. Following her role in the telenovela Azul (1996), which she co-starred in with Verónica Castro and for which she was awarded the Heraldo award for best female acting, Reguera went on to star in Desencuentro (1998), which was her third telenovela under the direction of Ernesto Alonso and her fourth telenovela overall.
Tentaciones (1998) was her debut with the production company Argos Comunicación, and it was also her first feature film. She was soon offered roles in films such as Tentaciones and Todo por amor, for which she was nominated for the Palmas de Or award.
